Visitor's Barn
The kitchen has basic facilities - fridge, cooker (rings only - oven dysfunctional), kettle, toaster, electric sockets, dining table and washing up sinks (but there is no hot water tap. Hot water can be heated in the kettle.).
There are a few pots and pans available, plus crockery, cutlery and most utensils.
Prices for 2018: ֲ£1 per person (including kids) for full use of the kitchen, or 50p per day for the fridge or freezer or electric sockets
The main room, with table tennis and sofas, is an additional £1 per person per day.
You may be sharing the barn with other campers or volunteers. We rely on users of the kitchen to keep it tidy. This does not always happen!
If you wish to store your own food and utensils in the barn, you should bring a storage container with a lid.
Use of the barn is subject to availability, but it should be available throughout the summer of 2018.
Use of the main room and kitchen is available for organised events including overnight use if desired (price on application). The main room is about 10m x 5m, with sofas and a wood-burner.
Organic Vegetables and Fruit
You can usually buy organic vegetables from us, especially potatoes, carrots, beans, chard, courgettes, tomatoes and cucumber.
If you will want some, it's best to let me know by the Sunday before your arrival.
Fruit is also sometimes available.
We also sell locally-produced charcoal for your barbecues at a very reasonable price.
Keveral's Water
Our water comes from our own spring, which is in the woods at the bottom of the Funky Field.
For most of the year, the water is pumped up using a new hydraulic ram pump, which uses only the water pressure in the supply pipe - no fuel !
When there is less water flowing from the spring, we use a Lister diesel engine and pump.
The water goes through a treatment process and is tested for quality each year.
If the pump has not been put on, or we have a problem with the pump, we may run out of water, so it's good to keep some water in reserve.
We will always have drinking water, but on rare occurrences, there may not be water for showers.
Please do not waste water.
Use the compost loos.
Campfires
There are shared campfires in The Orchard and The Funky Field that you can cook on or relax around. We may be able to provide metal grills to rest your pans on.
You can also have your own campfire or barbecue by your tent, by arrangement with us, if it is raised off the ground and there are no other tents close by.
If you are staying in a yurt, there is a campfire for your personal use.
Firewood is provided at an extra cost, and is a reasonable price. You must not help yourself to firewood nor take wood from the woods.
Rocket Stoves
These are outdoor cooking stoves that heat a pan quickly and efficiently using small diameter firewood. They are available free with the yurt, otherwise £5 per stay, or they can be purchased for £50.
Taxis from Liskeard and Looe
These will cost approx £20 from Liskeard. Sometimes there may be one waiting at the train station, otherwise you will have to phone for one.
You will have to pay them about £4 extra to drive down our lane (which is half a mile long and bumpy).
From Looe, it will cost about £12. There may be one waiting at the train station, otherwise there is a taxi rank by the bridge, 5 minutes walk away, or you can phone for one.
